How I blew my mind(set) doodling.
One year, when I felt I was at an all time low (no work, no money for rent), I was confused as to why after all my metaphysical learning and experience I had ended up here - 48 years old, having to move to another state, into my mother's empty house, leaving my friends behind. I was feeling pretty badly. I got there and I just gave up. I just gave up on trying to fix things. I just wanted to feel better.
After a few days, I was inspired to buy a small set of Crayola markers with the little money my Mom gave me and started drawing on printer paper, just letting my hand go, enjoying the rhythm and adding simple color. I felt such relief and it became almost a meditation. I was enthralled with the color and patterns I created spontaneously and with little to no thought.
After awhile I began feeling somewhat renewed with my old curiosity again. I contemplated how lovely it would be to have some simple job I would enjoy. Looking in the phone book, I found the ad of a commercial furniture distributor whose services included feng shui (which is what I had done for many years). Later, I found out that this was the first and last time they included that information in their ad. Fate? I continued doodling and one day felt inspired to try to get an appointment just to inquire what they did and talk feng shui. I ended up becoming the owner's in-house consultant on feng shui and helped as they moved into a new look and feel for their marketing, creating a more authentic image which incorporated their feng shui vibe.
So how and why did this happen? What are the vibrational mechanics that resulted in what I desired even though I didn’t focus on my goal? Well, looking back and now understanding vibration, here is how I would explain it!
When Life gives us a dilemma, we can decide how we will move forward. It is our vibration that guides the results. We can focus on the problem OR we can focus on shifting to a vibration that will turn things around. Being able to manage our vibe so that we match the vibe of what we want to create is what I call Vibrational Intelligence. Basically, happiness is the goal. Happiness is a sign that we are aligned with what we want.
My diagram, taken from my journals, shows the process. You can choose to try to get to the bottom of the problem, which tends to make us feel worse and if we keep that up we will literally create circumstances and situations that match how we feel. Or we can focus on how we can improve how we feel which is our point of power. From there we are inspired to take an action that works toward the solution; people and opportunities show up and soon you have the full blown manifestation of your desire.
Art distracts us and softens negative thoughts and feelings, limiting beliefs which prevent us allowing us to move past our limited thinking to having what we want and does it in a fun, effortless way. Doodling, specifically, puts your mind into a positive vibe, is a focusing mechanism, changes your brain chemistry for less stress and more enjoyment, and can be used to aid clarity, relaxation, rest the over thinking mind, and allow inspiration.
Its important to be aware of the vibe of our thoughts, because our thoughts create our reality. But its much harder to change a thought or belief directly than it is to change how we feel. And improving how we feel shifts our thoughts and therefore our vibe. That's why doodling is so powerful. You get entranced by doodling and without much effort you have changed your vibration for the better.
And I'm all for small effort and lots of fun for big results!
